How to Pack a Cruise Wardrobe for $200 (Three Outfits, One Suitcase)
Cruise wardrobes are deceptively hard. You need pool days and port days and at least one formal night, all in a suitcase that has to share space with sandals, sunscreen and a swimsuit. The reflex is to overpack. The smarter move is to choose pieces that work across more than one setting.
Here's a 5-day cruise wardrobe built from our current clearance — three core outfits that mix and match across the trip, all in for under $200.
Outfit 1: Sea day to lunch — $52
For days you're moving between cabin, sun deck, lido lunch and the spa. Comfortable, easy to layer, photographs well.
- Sheer Tunic Cover-Up — $18 (was $39). Goes over a swimsuit, on its own with shorts, or over a slip for an evening drink.
- Dyed Mini Dress — $39 (was $69). Cotton-and-rayon mini in three colorways. Reads polished enough for the dining room without feeling overdone.
Outfit 2: Port day in the Caribbean — $63
Walking, photography, lunch at a beach restaurant, maybe a museum. Needs to be breathable, comfortable for a full day on your feet, and quick to layer up for the air-conditioned shuttle bus.
- Animal Print Resort Caftan — $29 (was $72). Five-star reviewed. Looks dressed for excursions but moves like a t-shirt.
- Knitted Cotton Top — $12 (was $39). Tucked under the caftan for sun protection, or pulled out solo for a casual lunch.
- Positano Floral Maxi Skirt — $18 (was $72). Wraps over a swimsuit on the beach, ties around the shoulders if it gets breezy on the boat back.
That's two whole outfits for under $65, before we even hit dinner.
Outfit 3: Formal night — $73
Most cruise lines now have one or two "elegant" or "chic" nights. The dress code is dressy but not black-tie. Long silhouettes work; bold prints work harder than safe black.
- Beach Pool Party Maxi Dress — $34 (was $108). Halter neckline, deep V, floor length. Reads dinner-and-cocktails without trying.
- Multi Color Sheer Kaftan — $39 (was $89). Five-star rated. Layers over the maxi for the formal portrait, comes off when you sit down for dinner.
Wardrobe total: $188
Three complete outfits, generous mix-and-match potential, well under $200. The pieces above are all currently in our Clearance Event at 50–75% off original prices. New markdowns added every week.

Packing tips
- Choose pieces in a coherent color palette — one floral, one bold print, one solid layer. Everything should work with everything.
- Lightweight rayon and cotton compress in a suitcase. Avoid heavy fabrics for cruise.
- Pack one pair of sandals and one pair of dressier shoes. That's it.
- Roll, don't fold. Saves 30% space.
- Bring one cover-up that doubles as a beach throw — our sheer tunic works.
Frequently asked questions
What sizes typically last longest on your clearance?
Mid-range sizes (M/L and one-size pieces with generous fits) sell through fastest. If you're an XS or XL, browse Last Pieces first — those are the items where less than 5 are left.
Are these pieces returnable if they don't work for my cruise?
Clearance items are final sale. We strongly recommend reviewing the size and fit notes on each product page before ordering. If you're cutting it close on cruise dates, build in shipping time (3–7 business days for US orders).
Will my cruise have laundry?
Most major cruise lines offer laundry service — useful for a 7+ day trip. For a 5-day cruise, you can usually skip it if you pack as above.
Where do I find more vacation-appropriate clearance?
Our Clearance Maxi Dresses edit is built for evening dinners and formal nights. The Under $30 collection covers sea-day basics and pool layers.
